WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Call the Midwife. The Call the Midwife Christmas special is on the way, so when will it be released, and who will it star this time around?. Season 14 is coming in 2025, but before the next outing can begin, there are not one but two Christmas episodes to get excited about.
And following that cliffhanger with Trixie Franklin (played by Helen George), BBC viewers are eagerly waiting to find out how these festive specials will play out. Call the Midwife’s first Christmas special will air on Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, at 8 p.m. on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
The second installment is then scheduled to be released on Boxing Day, Thursday, December 26, at 7:30 p.m. Despite Trixie stating that she would be moving to New York to be with her husband, Matthew Aylward (Olly Rix), she will be back for the Christmas specials and season 14.
However, it has been hinted that actor Rix won’t be returning as Matthew and he isn’t on the Christmas cast list either. All of the other fan favourites will be back, though, including Jenny Agutter as Sister Julienne, Rebecca Gethings as Sister Veronica, Linda Bassett as Nurse Phyllis Crane, Georgie Glen as Miss Higgins, and Judy Parfitt as Sister Monica Joan.
Doctor Turner, played by Stephen McGann, will be back alongside his wife, Shelagh Turner, and son, Timothy Turner, portrayed by Laura Main and Max Macmillan, respectively. In addition, viewers will see more of the newly qualified nurses Joyce Highland and Rosalind Clifford, played by actress Renee Bailey and Natalie Quarry.
