Chappell Roan dug through the past for her striking red carpet ensemble at the 2025 Grammy Awards. The ceremony is being hosted by Trevor Noah for the fifth consecutive year and held at LA's Crypto.com Arena. Chappell, 26, paid tribute to French Impressionist painting and the Belle Epoque period with a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier ballgown taken from the designer's Spring/Summer 2003 couture collection.

The busy dress nearly had too many details to focus on, with a voluminous canary-yellow skirt and baby blue accents, along with matching sheer blue gloves that reached to her upper arms. The drag-inspired songstress' skirt featured added bits of yellow and blue material sewn on at the hem for a playfully ragged look, and it featured prints of dancers and women in ballgowns inspired by the paintings of Edgar Degas.

The vintage look was darkened up with long black satin bows for straps, and Chappell had an extra bit of blue tulle wrapped around her throat like a scarf. She made her face up with corpse-like white makeup, as is standard for her, and she added over-the-top blue-and-yellow mascara to complement her dress. The singer–songwriter wore a burgundy shade of lipstick and added enormous false eyelashes for a cartoonish touch. She wore her crimson hair in long curls draped down her back, and she topped it off with a feathered headdress of white, yellow and blue feathers.

Beyonce, winner of more Grammys over her career than any other artist, has never taken home the album trophy. Swift has won the honor four times and is in the running again with her breakup album The Tortured Poets Department. At the awards ceremony in February, the Beyonce and Swift records will compete with Carpenter's 'Short n' Sweet,' 'Brat' from Charli XCX, Eilish's 'Hit Me Hard and Soft,' and Roan's 'The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.'.

It became the first album by a Black woman to land at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart when it was released last spring. The Beyonce album was snubbed, however, by voters for the Country Music Awards in September. Beyonce's other Grammy nods included record and song of the year for single 'Texas Hold 'Em.' Her 11 nominations brought her lifetime total to 99, more than any other artist. Prior to Friday, she had been tied for the lead with her husband, rapper Jay-Z, who has 88.
