On Saturday, the Hollywood superstar was spotted running errands in Sydney using an iconic local shopping bag. The Oscar winner carried a reusable AUD $3 (USD $1.25) shopping bag from supermarket chain Woolworths. The 49-year-old also carried an AUD $720 (USD $448) Isabel Marant tote - but she seemed to favour the budget carrier.
The South African stunner kept things casual for the outing in a black shirt and matching jeans. She had on a glowing makeup look and swept her blonde locks off her face and added a pair of well loved white sneakers. The pair are in Australia to work on Apex, a gripping thriller directed by Baltasar Kormákur. The film, penned by Jeremy Robbins, is being described as Free Solo meets Silence of the Lambs. The story follows a rock climber who becomes the target of a terrifying hunt in the wild.
Theron, who is also producing the project through her new media company alongside producers Dawn Olmstead, Beth Kono, and AJ Dix, is no stranger to taking on physically demanding roles. Joining forces with producers Ian Bryce, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and David Ready of Chernin Entertainment, as well as Kormákur’s RVK Productions, Apex promises to deliver a nail-biting cinematic experience. Egerton, best known for his breakout role in Kingsman: The Secret Service and its sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, is stepping into another intense character.
The film marks a departure from his past performances, showcasing his versatility as an actor. The 49-year-old also carried an AUD $720 (USD $448) Isabel Marant tote. Elsewhere on the career front, Charlize is rumored to be playing the enchantress Circe in Christopher Nolan's big-screen adaptation of Homer's The Odyssey, which is expected to start shooting early this year.
On December 26, The InSneider reported that the Greek myth epic will be 'the most expensive film of Nolan's career' compared to The Dark Knight, which had a budget between $250M-300M. Zendaya, Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson and Lupita Nyong'o are also slated to star in the Universal Pictures flick hitting IMAX theaters on July 17, 2026. It's been nearly two years since the Emmy nominee wrapped her role as the oldest immortal warrior Andromache 'Andy' of Scythia in Victoria Mahoney's superhero sequel The Old Guard 2, and Netflix still hasn't announced a release date.
'Netflix went through quite a changeover,' Charlize explained to Variety last July. 'We got kind of stuck in that and our post-production shut down, I think, five weeks into it. They were going through a lot of changes, and I totally understand it. We finally picked it back up and I'm really excited about it.'. Theron executive produced the small-screen adaptation of Greg Rucka's 2017 graphic novel which will also feature Uma Thurman, KiKi Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Matthias Schoenaerts, Vân Veronica Ngô, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Henry Golding.
Gina Prince-Bythewood's original 2020 film The Old Guard received a 'certified fresh' 80% critic approval (out of 286 reviews) rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The star and Gerda co-parent her two daughters - Jackson, 12; and August, 9 - whom she adopted in 2012 and 2015, respectively. 'They're so embarrassed by me constantly,' Charlize lamented to E! News last July. 'They're kids, they're girls, you know? I have a preteen and I feel like I have a nine-year-old who thinks she's a 13-year-old. It's a lot of girl in our house. I'm just trying to keep my head above water, because they are smart and they are witty and they are firecrackers.
'But they do not go, "Oh my god, Mom, you're so amazing!" They're like, "Excuse me, I need. I want." They're normal kids. They're a**holes, but they're really nice. Other parents know what I'm talking about.'. At one point, Theron bent over her sun lounger in order to grab a black quilted backpack emblazoned with a large Yves Saint Laurent logo. The Into the Fire producer hasn't publicly dated anyone since ending her six-month engagement to two-time Oscar winner Sean Penn back in 2015.
