The captivating new series of BBC1's The Traitors is well underway, with viewers going mad for its rollercoaster ride of plot twists, treachery and heightened emotions. The reality TV sensation sees teams of Faithfuls and Traitors go head-to-head to try and secure a cash jackpot of up to £120,000. The show is presented by Claudia Winkleman, who won a BAFTA for her work but told the BBC: "The absolute beauty of The Traitors is the game itself.
"I get messages all the time from people playing it in theatres, on film sets, in schools, even a Traitors wedding - I agree, too much." Mad fans of The Traitors are keen to find out every detail about filming too, from how the Traitors are chosen to why the owl is called Barry.
Thankfully Claudia, 53, has let slip a few precious secrets in press interviews about the iconic programme. Here's what we've learned... Claudia is part of the discussions that decide who was going to remain a Faithful and who will become a Traitor. "We talk to all of them, and then six of us go up to a room, the brilliant casting people, and we get through seven packets of biscuits," she told BBC News. "I'm the smallest voice in the room, but you decide while having had those chats who it's going to be.".
The team take the players' wishes into consideration and if someone asks not to be a Traitor, they wouldn't be picked. The star said her biggest fear was accidentally giving away the identities of the chosen Traitors but thankfully, she has a clever way of avoiding it. "I am absolutely paranoid about ever looking at the Traitors, so I sort of look just above everybody's head," she said.
