Cole Palmer reached a Premier League landmark by producing a stunning finish to give Chelsea the lead against Bournemouth on Tuesday night. The Blues have failed to win any of their last four league matches, but made a fast start at Stamford Bridge as Palmer was played through on goal by Nicolas Jackson.
Palmer had timed his run to perfection but still had Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers to beat. There was no sense of panic from Palmer as he faked to shot but did not even touch the ball. Travers fell for it hook, line and sinker and went to ground, leaving Palmer to tap into the unguarded side of the net.
It was an incredibly cool finish from the 22-year-old, who celebrated with his usual 'shivering' motion. It was also a special moment for him from an individual perspective as he moved to 20 Premier League goal contributions (14 goals, six assists) for the season.
