Conor McGregor has seemingly confirmed that he will take on social media star Logan Paul in a boxing match set to be staged in India next year. More than three years have passed since a serious injury in his trilogy clash with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 forced the Irishman to put his career inside combat sports on hold.
In that time the 36-year-old has been repeatedly linked with a return to the Octagon, most recently when he was slated to face longtime rival Michael Chandler in June before pulling out with an injury. However, last week McGregor set social media alight by claiming his return would happen in 2025, but in a ring rather than the cage.
'I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambrani[sic] family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India.' McGregor wrote on X. The news sparked backlash among a portion of the combat sports world, including from famed boxing promoter Lou DiBella.
Conor McGregor has seemingly confirmed his boxing match with Logan Paul next year. The Irishman will reportedly receive a £200m purse to box social media star Paul in India. However, according to a report from McGregor's The Mac Life news outlet, the fight will go ahead in 2025 as part of the Visit India tourism campaign.
The clash is set to be staged at the 33,000-capacity Wankhede cricket stadium in Mumbai, with McGregor set to earn a reported sum of $250million (£200m) for his involvement. Mukesh Ambani is the wealthiest man in India, and the ninth richest in the world with a reported net worth of over £95billion.
