Coronation Street legend Helen Worth bid farewell to the ITV soap on Christmas Day, when character Gail Platt left Weatherfield after a whopping 50 years. As well as leaving a Gail-sized hole in viewers’ hearts, Helen also left her dressing room empty, meaning another cast member has had an upgrade.

Speaking about the change on the On The Sofa podcast, Craig Tinker star Colson Smith explained that there is somewhat of a hierarchy when it comes to being assigned a dressing room, with most stars sharing with at least one other cast member. ‘Getting your own dressing room at Corrie is a big, big deal. We’re talking 20 years of service minimum,’ he revealed.

According to David Platt actor Jack P Shepherd, Helen’s dressing room was located on what cast members refer to as the ‘walk of fame’, or the ‘golden corridor’. ‘It’s like a legends section, where you’ve got Bill Roach, Barbara (Knox), Helen (Worth), Dave Neilson, Sally Dynevor, Sue Nicholls, Mike Le Vell,’ he added.
