Cruel fur industry gets another nail in the coffin as China production massively falls The fur industry is in decline, with falling business numbers, fewer pelts produced, and fashion houses turning their backs on the use of real fur, a report has found.
“But while I want to celebrate the decreasing numbers, we can’t yet claim victory when there are still tens of millions of innocent animals being pointlessly slaughtered every year, just for their fur.” She explained how demand had dropped as a result of Global fashion brands such as Gucci, Armani, Prada and Burberry becoming part of the Fur Free Retailer Scheme.
ACTAsia’s founder and CEO Pei Su, who has been monitoring the global fur trade for more than a decade, said: “It seems as though we are winning in the fight against fur for the first time ever, and I am feeling very hopeful for the future.
The industry is particularly prevalent in the north of the country where the colder weather means animals produce thicker fur and the majority of animals are raised on factory farms.
Pei Su added: “Not only does fur farming cause extreme stress to millions of animals in captivity, it also poses a huge risk to the environment and crucially to human health.
