Cyndi Lauper, known for her hit Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, shared how a "superfood" diet caused her intense health problems. The Iconic singer took to the Table Manners Podcast where she opened up about her experience kidney stones, attributing them to a diet rich in spinach. She explained that her attempt to adopt a vegan diet led her to consume spinach at every meal, which resulted in the kidney stones.
During the podcast, Cyndi said: "I tried to be a vegan, but you know, I took one thing where they were just delivering food and they every gave me day spinach, every meal spinach. I wound up having kidney stones and they killed me.". Host Lennie Ware asked: "Oh, you get kidney stones from spinach? " And Cyndi said: "Yes, it has a chemical in it. If you eat too much of this kind of thing. And you're prone to that it can you can develop kidney stones." Cyndi also spoke about her experience following the diet whilst she was "on the road".
She said: "I stopped that but like I tried to eat on the road like that but they would put these herbs and vegetables like, you know, just flat out what's wrong with you got cauliflower. What you gotta ruin it for? Just freaking wash it, cut it, put a little olive oil on it, some salt, put it in the broiler, don't burn it.". This comes after Cyndi opened up about her Glastonbury Festival performance being hit by sound issues. She told The Sunday Times: "I couldn't hear the band and that sucked. I wanted to be really great." Cyndi, who is getting ready for her final tour, added: "I want to say goodbye big, you know? There is an art to standing still and singing, and I do not have that talent. So I don't know how long I'm going to be able to do the kind of performance that I feel is right.".
