Damon Heta makes feelings known after PDC's Premier League Darts snub

Damon Heta has revealed Premier League Darts chiefs didn't approach him ahead of his omission from the star-studded 2025 line-up. The eight-player roster was confirmed on Monday afternoon, with ex-world champions Michael Smith and Peter Wright notably absent from the list. This year's beaten PDC World Darts Championship semi-finalists Stephen Bunting and Chris Dobey were chosen as their replacements - despite a strong fan campaign for Heta's inclusion.
The charismatic Australian Heta dazzled the Ally Pally crowd last month with a nine-dart leg in his third-round clash with Luke Woodhouse, although he ultimately lost the match 4-3. Reacting to the widespread disappointment over his omission, the world No. 8 shared his own statement on X.
Heta, nicknamed The Heat, wrote: "Well as usual there's a lot of strong feelings surrounding the PL pickings (I don't trend very often). I wasn't expecting to be picked in the Premier League and I know I wasn't even in the talks with the board for it. But I appreciate every single one of you who put me in their line-up and had faith I was going to be there.
"I didn't move to England to play Premier League, I have been pretty open about that over the years. If it happens one day it happens but I'll continue to work hard and what will be will be.". The 37-year-old took the darts world by storm in 2019 when he beat Rob Cross to bag the Brisbane Darts Masters title. Now, he's a common face in the PDC tournaments and is well-known for his battling performances and cheeky charm at the oche.
