Dancing On Ice star Chris Taylor fell on the ice tonight after a tough week. The Love Island star had just one day to rehearse with new professional skater Robin Johnstone after his original partner Vanessa Bauer quit the show after picking up an injury. Tonight, Chris was left "gutted" when he fell during his Pokemon inspired routine. Speaking after his performance, he said: "I am gutted. I really wanted to do that justice. Vanessa choreographed it.".
He added: "It’s nothing to do with the situation - I just decked it. But we got up and did the rest.". As the judges gave their verdict, Christopher Dean was keen to remind Chris of his successes so far. "It’s not about the fall; it’s about if you get up from the fall. The show must go on and you did that. What you did before the stumble, it was great. Don’t let that affect you. Go back and come back stronger next week," he said.
Vanessa was forced to pull out of the show after suffering an injury. In a video, she said: "I'm here today with rather upsetting news. I am unfortunately not going to be able to continue on Dancing on Ice with Chris. That's really upsetting for me. "I have trained Chris since October last year and it is always such an amazing achievement for myself to see someone else progress so much in a skill they've never done before. So it's been really rewarding for me to watch this whole journey for Chris [and] the way he's got better week since October and also since the live shows started. I unfortunately had a little accident backstage last week on Dancing on Ice just before the live show on Sunday. And I didn't realise how bad it was then, but we did an MRI and it turned out that I have a completely torn ligament, grade three sprain injury and a major grade two sprain injury.".
In her lengthy video, she added: "I shouldn't be skating on an injury like that and so I'm taking all of the advice from the medical professionals here, I am in very good hands," as Chris added: "I'm very very sad but you have an annoying brother for life.".
