However, the paralegal, from Hackney, London, told Metro she can’t start spending yet as she has not been paid the jackpot. Nay Nay has several weeks to properly plan how to splash the cash as the prize money is expected to land in her account in March.

The delay is no bother to the record-breaking player who is still reeling after watching her episode last night with family. ‘All the emotions came back,’ she says. ‘I started crying again when I was watching it, just because it’s a life-changing amount of money.’. When Nay Nay joined the show presented by Stephen Mulhern – it took her around 27 games to be selected – she had no plan other than to make it to the end.

‘My strategy was my faith,’ she tells us. ‘I knew I was going to the end so my main thing is I wanted to ensure that I had fun, which I definitely did. ‘I mean, my game was so fun. I remember screaming, crying, laughing, and it was just amazing.’. She also does not feel shortchanged that the jackpot has been cut by £150,000 since moving to ITV in 2023 from Channel 4 – where it was presented by Noel Edmonds.

Previous contestants could take home up to £250,000 before the show was axed by its former home after 11 years in 2016. Today, that prize should be around £379,525 if it were in line with inflation according to an online calculator from financial services company Hargreaves Lansdown. But Nay Nay is ‘absolutely not’ disappointed by the downsized jackpot. ‘When I went on the show it was more than just about the money,’ she explains.

‘For me, it was just about following faith, having a new experience and meeting the people that I would have never met before. I’ve met some friends for life; we’re all going to go on holiday together. ‘The experience is more than money can buy. The money is just a bonus.’. Since last night, Nay Nay says her phone has been ‘blowing up’ and she has been ‘crying tears of joy’ over supportive messages. One in particular resonated.

‘It really stood out to me, and I literally started crying,’ Nay Nay explains. ‘The message was from was an elderly lady and she said she was a grandma herself, and she saw my grandma on the TV, and she was just watching my game alone and said it restored her faith. ‘That just made me so happy: to inspire someone by being yourself and by having faith.’. As for her winnings, Nay Nay has vowed not to ‘squander’ the £75,000 and instead will treat her grandma to a spa day, donate 10% to her church and use the rest for a house deposit.
