To celebrate the Lunar New Year, Diablo 4 is bringing back its Lunar Awakening event to celebrate the Lunar New Year and the year of the snake with themed cosmetics and rewards. Diablo 4 Lunar Awakening is back as a limited-time event for the first time since honouring the year of the dragon back in Season 3. As with last year's celebration, players can once again unlock six Lunar-themed cosmetic rewards including the new Trag’Oul’s Consort mount, as they progress through the 10 Ancestral Favor Reputation Levels. You can also get some swanky new threads for yourself and your mount from Tejal’s shop to kick off the Lunar New Year in style.

The Diablo 4 Lunar Awakening event takes place across both the Seasonal and Eternal Realms, and even after you earn the six-themed rewards, you can still unlock additional goodies – specifically, Unceasing Gifts from the Ancestors. So if the Season of Witchcraft hasn't quite cast its spell on you just yet, you can take a break and dive into the Diablo 4 Lunar Awakening event instead. To start the Lunar Awakening event, head to Ked Bardu and make your way to the northern part of the town to find Ying-Yue, the leader of the Lunar Night Market. This acts as the hub for the event, so be sure to revisit to redeem your Ancestral Favor Reputation for Unceasing Gifts from the Ancestors caches as well as your Lunar Renewal-themed rewards.

To bag reams of Ancestral Favor Reputation, you'll want to activate Lunar Shrines, which have replaces all standard shrines for the duration of the Diablo 4 Lunar Awakening event. Not only have they had a makeover for the year of the snake, but they'll grant a 100% experience bonus as well as having augmented effects, which we've detailed below. The Diablo 4 Lunar Awakening release is Tuesday, February 4 at 6pm GMT / 10am PST / 1pm EST which is the usual time Blizzard rolls out patches and performs maintenance. This was also confirmed over on the blog post about the limited time event. Diablo 4 Lunar Awakening runs for two weeks, coming to an end on Tuesday, February 18 at 6pm GMT /10am PST / 1pm EST.

It'll be interesting to see what – if anything – Blizzard is shaking up compared to last year's event, which saw players blasting through it in as little as an hour. The length of time to complete last year's Diablo 4 Lunar Awakening was a bone of contention, and already there's been some grumblings about this year's iteration, with complaints about minimal rewards compared to the paid content (via Reddit).
