EVERYONE has just gotten over the excitement of awards season, and are stocked up on games following the holidays. But there are still a number of big-name games launching in January, and there’ll be some you’ll want to pick up. If you’re still looking for something new to play, here is what’s on offer this month.

Here’s all the biggest gaming releases for January 2025. Freedom Wars is one of the few games that is only playable on the PlayStation Vita, but that won’t be the case much longer. Born with a prison sentence of a million years, you have to work off your time by taking part in life-threatening missions.

Grapple up large mechs and sever off resources to craft better weapons for your missions. Freedom Wars Remastered will be released on January 10 for PlayStation 4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Nintendo has launched a number of remasters for its most popular games recently like Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Another Code: Recollection.

Now it’s the turn of one of the Wii’s best games, Donkey Kong Country Returns, to get a whole new look. In the style of the Donkey Kong Country games on SNES, you’ll be using Kongs, breaking barrels, and rolling through levels. Donkey Kong Country Returns HD launches on January 16 exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
