Billionaire Elon Musk has posted a poll asking if the US should "liberate" the UK from its government in a bizarre social media post. Musk, 53, today asked users on X/Twitter whether "America should liberate the people of Britain from their tyrannical government." The poll, shared by social media company's CEO, has been viewed more than 1.1million times and is heavily in favour of "yes" as opposed to the other option "no.".

The Mirror has contacted the X/Twitter press office for comment. The Space X and Tesla boss has recently posted several attacks about Labour Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer as well as politicians in the party. Musk has strongly criticised the UK Government over the country's handling of the multiple grooming gangs.

Sir Keir previously ordered a comprehensive overhaul of the Crown Prosecution Service's response to grooming in 2012 in an attempt to drive up convictions. At the time Sir Keir said a generation of girls had been betrayed by a flawed justice system and argues prosecutors "shouldn't shy away from" understanding issues of ethnicity.

He also hit out at minister Jess Phillips who formally denied requests for the Home Office to carry out a public inquiry into child sexual exploitation in Oldham. Phillips instead instructed Oldham Council to launch its own inquiry into historic child sexual abuse in the town in October.
