That means they are only issued when temperatures drop to a certain temperature - zero degrees Celsius or below for seven consecutive days. Payments are issued automatically so you don't have to do anything if you are eligible. You can find these via www.gov.uk/cold-weather-payment. It's worth noting, £25 payments are made for each seven day period of weather where temperatures are zero degrees Celsius or below. That means if the weather stays cold for long enough you could get a £50 or even a £75 payment.
Payments are made within 14 working days and into the same bank account as the one used to pay your qualifying benefit. Payments usually show in your bank statement as your National Insurance number followed by "DWP CWP" for those in England and Wales.
