Cardi B raised eyebrows this week when she debuted her new 'butt crack' piercing on social media. And now a body piercing expert is issuing an urgent health warning to any fans who are thinking of copying the rapper's buttocks jewelry. Brian Keith Thompson, who owns Body Electric Tattoo in Los Angeles, told TMZ that Cardi B's gluteal microdermals — a type of horizontal surface piercing — have a high risk of infection.
This is due to the jewelry's close proximity to the anus as well as its lengthy healing process, which Thompson said can take 'at least a year.'. 'Those things are really hard to heal. You've got to give it your all,' he stressed. Thompson also warned that piercings in that area can scar 'really badly.'.
