Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs were being mocked by NFL fans on social media on Thursday after it emerged the quarterback is clear to start against the Houston Texans on Saturday. The Kansas City quarterback went off with an ankle issue - later revealed to be a high ankle sprain - in Sunday's win over the Cleveland Browns, sparking huge fears for the Chiefs with the playoffs on the horizon.

It emerged he had a high ankle sprain but has fully participated in practice all week and, head coach Andy Reid said Thursday, looks good to play at Arrowhead this weekend. 'We'll most likely end up playing him,' Reid said at a press conference. 'He worked out this week, full. We'll just see how things work out today.".

The news sparked an array of responses from football fans accusing Mahomes of exaggerating the injury and referencing his record of overcoming ankle issues. 'Death, taxes and Mahomes over exaggerating an ankle injury that is fine,' said one fan. Patrick Mahomes is set to start for the Chiefs against Houston Texans on Saturday.

Another wrote: 'Mahomes has a high ankle sprain and not going to miss a game. I think at this point they lie about that man’s injuries so he can look even better when he wins.'. A different NFL fan posted on X: 'Mahomes deserves an Oscar for the acting job of fake ankle injuries he puts on every year at the end of the season.'.
