Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are monitoring his injury 'day-by-day' with a judgement on Saturday's game against the Houston Texans still hanging in the balance. Mahomes limped off during the fourth quarter of the Chiefs win over the Cleveland Browns Sunday when he rolled his ankle while being tackled by Dalvin Tomlinson on a fourth-down incompletion.
Carson Wentz replaced the three-time Super Bowl winner, who was later confirmed to have suffered a high-ankle sprain. However, the Chiefs haven't ruled out the quarterback for this weekend's clash against the Houston Texans with the No. 1 seed still on the line.
Head coach Andy Reid indicated that Mahomes would practice Tuesday, with the Chiefs taking their game decision 'day-by-day.'. And Mahomes echoed his coach. He said that he would take Tuesday's training as an indicator for the health of his ankle but admitted that he's always driven to push himself to play.

'The reason you play this game is to push to play, so I’ll get to work at practice and try to push it to see where I can get to,' Mahomes told reporters in a press conference Tuesday. 'But I’m not going to put our team in a bad position, so if I can play and go out there and win a Football game, I’ll play. If I don’t feel like it’s the best scenario, I’ll let guys like Carson play.'.
