The court heard how Haughton launched the unprovoked attack against Mr Oliveira outside the victim’s home in Norwood Road, Tulse Hill.
Haughton was arrested by armed police at Waterloo Station on April 21, six days after the killing, following a manhunt by the Met, Dorset Police and the British Transport Police.
Caudel Haughton, 21, of Conisborough Crescent, Catford, was sentenced to an indefinite term in a secure hospital after stabbing 20-year-old Filipe Oliveira to death on April 15, 2023.
CCTV showed how he had travelled from his home address in Catford to Tulse Hill, across two train journeys, a bus and on foot, before launching his attack.
Met Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn said: “My thoughts today are with Filipe’s family and friends, who have had to wait almost two years for justice.
