First North Korean prisoner captured by Ukraine 'dies of injuries'

The North Korean soldier captured in Ukraine has reportedly died after suffering "serious injuries". South Korean National Intelligence Service is said to have confirmed the development in the last hour, after it had emerged the Kim Jong-un fighter was held in Russia’s Kursk region.
In a brief statement, South Korean National Intelligence Service had said: "Through real-time information sharing with a friendly nation's [Ukraine’s] intelligence organisation, [we] confirmed the capture of a wounded North Korean soldier and plans to thoroughly examine the subsequent development.".
Now it is understood that soldier has died. No further details on the nature of the injuries he is said to have suffered has been disclosed by authorities. But major news outlet Yonhap, which is based in South Korea, has intelligence the prisoner of war succumbed to the injuries hours after being captured. Before this development emerged, a Ukrainian statement read: "The Special Operations Forces conducted an operation to eliminate the enemy in the Kursk direction. In addition to successfully completing the mission, there were also trophies - prisoners, including a mercenary from Korea, as well as an armoured personnel carrier equipped with anti-cumulative protection.".
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recorded a video message this week, in which he said: "There are already over 3,000 wounded and killed North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region. Russia is simply disposing of them in assaults. "Why the Koreans should fight for Putin is a question that no normal person on Earth can answer. Unfortunately, the world is doing almost nothing to counter the criminal collaboration between Russia and North Korea.".
