A landlord allegedly shot a tenant “several times in the head” in an argument over the central heating during cold weather. Adam Louis Anson, aged 37, has reportedly been charged with second-degree murder as well as burglary with assault following the death of 57-year-old Carlos Alberto Gonzalez in Miami.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said that the death followed a dispute between the pair over the thermostat as temperatures in the south Florida region dropped to single figures in a cold snap despite the state being known for its balmy weather. Anson is claimed to have armed himself with a semi-automatic gun at around 8am and headed to an apartment on his property that he leases out. He is alleged by police to have knocked on the window with the intention of adjusting the thermostat setting.

The property includes the attached apartment that he leases out and crucially the thermostat for the home was located in a hallway within the rented part of the property. And the incident is claimed to have escalated when Mr Gonzalez opened the door and he was then punched unprovoked as Anson forced himself inside the apartment. He is then said to have dragged the victim outside to a backyard where he shot him “several times in the head”, according to the arrest documents, reported CBS News.
