Nine-darter machine Gerwyn Price has shown his prowess on the snooker table by appearing to post a 147 break. The former PDC world champion Price has several perfect legs on his CV, including hitting two in one night in the Premier League in 2022 and one at the World Matchplay later in the same year. The Iceman is also a handy snooker player and has full-sized table at his home in south Wales.

The Iceman plays regularly, revealing in an interview before the 2025 World Championship that his highest break was 108. Speaking to The Guardian, he joked: “I won’t do a Shaun Murphy and lie about having a 147!”. Murphy claims to have completed the unique hat-trick of a 147 break, a nine-darter and a hole-in-one in golf – a boast doubted by many darts and snooker followers. He once said: “I think I’m in a club of one at the moment.”.

Now, Price, 39, appears to have achieved snooker’s equivalent of a nine-darter and even has footage to prove it, even if he suffered a technical hitch. Earlier this month, the Welshman posted a clip to Instagram of him putting together the break. He captioned it: “When you make your first 147 break [shocked face emoji]. And my phone dies.”.

Price and Murphy are in agreement that a 147 break is tougher than a nine-darter. Price said back in 2022: “I’d say a 147 is harder, because I know how tough snooker is. “But then a snooker player might say a nine-darter is harder, but I’d definitely say a 147 is harder than a nine-darter. But also, you can fluke a 147, you can fluke a ball and still be on it, I can’t fluke in darts.”.
