Emily Steel, better known as Dynamite on BBC One’s Gladiators, lives a vibrant and exciting life outside of the arena. Originally from the Altrincham and Hale areas, Emily, 21, started her athletic career as a competitive swimmer, training and competing at a national level until she was 15. Later, she switched to weightlifting and broke a British under-23 record in the clean and jerk in 2023.
Away from sports and TV, Emily shares her glamorous lifestyle on Instagram, where she has over 56,000 followers. Her posts feature everything from intense training sessions and stylish outfits to travel adventures and behind-the-scenes moments. The star recently attended the Pride of Britain Awards, dressed elegantly in a blue sparkling gown with a thigh-high slit and an off-the-shoulder design. She styled her hair in bouncy curls and completed the look with pink heels, trading her usual gym trainers for a glamorous touch.
In another snap, Emily was seen celebrating her birthday with fellow Gladiator Livi Sheldon. Emily wore a short cream dress paired with gold heels and a tiara, while Livi chose a black dress with a slit and black heels. Last year, Emily made history on the BBC show by becoming the youngest-ever Gladiator. Standing at 5ft 5ins tall, she can lift an impressive 160kg and her alter ego Dynamite promised to be explosive and dangerous so contenders had better watch their backs.
"I'm too young to remember the original Gladiators but my parents loved it and suggested I try out," said Emily. “As a young athlete, I felt like it was an opportunity to inspire young girls and make them think: 'Oh, I can go to the gym, I can train and be just as strong’.
