Green Day fans in stitches as band change iconic song lyrics to mock Elon Musk and Trump

Green Day has hit out at Elon Musk and newly-inaugurated President Donald Trump by changing the lyrics of one of their most iconic songs. The Billie Joe Armstrong-fronted group are responsible for some of the most memorable garage rock songs of all, many of which have a political theme. The band do not shy away from making their opinions known, and, true to form, made their distaste of the 47th President of the United States clear during a recent live performance.
Footage of the band's gig in Calabash, South Africa, was shared to X where fans were quick to spot the lyrical change in American Idiot. Green Day, who played gigs at Wembley Stadium in London last year, are continuing on their world tour to promote their latest album, Saviors, and are changing the lyrics to their hits as they go to make comments about Trump's second term in office.
Fans of the band were delighted to hear Armstrong and the group change the lyrics to American Idiot as a way of mocking the Trump office and CEO Musk. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO has since been appointed as a member of President Trump's cabinet. A post from @GreenDayItaly_ reads: "Billie Joe Armstrong changes the lyrics to call out Elon Musk, 'I’m not a part of an Elon agenda'." Those who watched the clip wondered how Musk would take the rewrites, with one joking: "Elon gonna be pissed and it will be fantastic.".
Another wrote: "And people WILL STILL MISINTERPRET THE SONG." A third added: "Always loved Green Day!! They are not afraid!" A handful of Trump supporters were left furious by the post, with one writing: "These guys are such losers. time to grow up by now.".
