Ava Murphy, 20, and her 21-year-old partner Kyran Tobin Lewis, nipped into their local branch to grab a quick bite to eat on their way home in Chepstow, Wales. Kyran picked up his usual sausage, bean and cheese pastry for £2.20, and remarked to Ava that ‘it feels a bit hollow’.

But despite this, when they got their food home and tucked in to eat they were shocked to find his pastry didn’t contain any beans or cheese – two-thirds of the advertised filling. They shared pictures and video of the pasty online, which looked incredibly sad as it only contained two small sausages wrapped in pastry.

Everyone likes a sausage roll from Greggs – even if they have put the price up this year – but this sad example of a pasty is completely off. Ava, a teaching assistant, said: ‘My partner took the first bite and all he said was, “it’s just sausage”.

‘We just kept looking and laughing. It did make our Sunday. ‘The pasty is not always my go to but it’s definitely my partner’s – and that has never happened before. ‘We did find it pretty funny after we got over it. ‘We posted it on X and they asked us to DM them where they apologised.’.
