Missing You is arriving on Netflix tomorrow, and Harlan Coben fans can’t wait to see all the twists and turns the celebrated author has in store for them. The release of his latest thriller adaptation comes one year after the success of Fool Me Once starring Michelle Keegan, which became Netflix ’s most-watched show of 2024 after accumulating over 100 million views around the world.
Therefore, it seems like a no-brainer that Netflix’s latest team-up with Coben is bound to result in another major hit for the streaming service. Speaking at a live Q&A screening, Harlan Coben suggested that this story might be his “darkest yet”, warning fans that they are in for an emotional rollercoaster.
“When I watched episode five, I actually cried,” he admitted, confirming it was the first time one of his shows had ever prompted such a tearful reaction. He said that he was “emotional” at the end of Fool Me Once, but the end of Missing You affected him in a way that no previous adaptation of his work had.
The synopsis from Netflix reads: “Missing You is a limited drama series about Detective Kat Donovan (Rosalind Eleazar), whose life is rocked when her fiancé Josh (Ashley Walters), who disappeared eleven years ago, suddenly resurfaces in strange circumstances.
“While Kat investigates the case of a missing person, Josh’s reappearance forces her to dive back into the mystery surrounding her father’s (Sir Lenny Henry) murder and uncover long-buried secrets from her past.”. The description goes on to say: “Missing You sends Kat on a personal journey as she turns her policing brilliance inwards, unravelling her own life and those around her.
