Harry Maguire's furious rant at Man Utd team-mate spotted as fresh issue emerges

Harry Maguire scolded team-mate Diogo Dalot for his weak defending during Manchester United's limp 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace. Two second-half goals from Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta condemned United to their 11th loss in 24 Premier League games this season, their seventh at home. The signs were evident in the first half, with Palace wide man Daniel Munoz missing a golden opportunity to put the visitors ahead.
Picked out by fellow wing-back Tyrick Mitchell at the far post, Munoz easily beat Dalot to a header which sailed wide of Andre Onana's goal. The Colombian's expression spoke volumes, knowing that he should've scored. Immediately after Munoz's miss, Maguire was seen berating Dalot, who didn't even jump for the ball. Ex-Premier League striker Michael Bridges noted the incident on commentary, saying: "I've just seen Harry Maguire have a word with Dalot there and say, 'You've got to make a challenge'. You can't just allow the play to jump and get an easy header.".
Much has been made of United's lacklustre attack, squandering a series of chances in the first half, but their fragile defence should also be cause for concern in Ruben Amorim's analysis. The Red Devils had kept back-to-back clean sheets before Sunday's game, in which they conceded their 33rd and 34th league goals this term. That's six more than relegation-threatened Everton, who are now only three spots below 13th-placed United in the table. Amorim has chopped and changed his three starting centre-backs since taking over in mid-November but a serious-looking injury to Lisandro Martinez means that he's now lost his preferred left-sided option.

A bad situation for us and especially for Licha. I think we are going to see in the next days but I think it is a serious situation. It's really hard on us, he's not just a great player but a strong character in the dressing room. Especially in this moment, it's hard for us.
"Now it is time for all of us to help Licha. He felt it and, when you are a player, you know when it is serious. Let's hope for better days for him. We are here, like I say, to help him in this difficult moment.". Join our new MAN UTD WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Manchester United content from Mirror Football.
