Chaos broke out at a busy train station when a hen party accused a woman of queue jumping at a toilet. Dionne Pearson had been out in Newcastle city centre with her family and friends celebrating her upcoming wedding when a disagreement occurred between her party and a woman, Nadia Rhodes, in the toilets at Newcastle Central Station. A court heard that Rhodes had queue jumped and tensions flared.
Prosecutors said that CCTV then captured Rhode's partner, Lee Moore, enter the female toilets and a fight subsequently spilled out onto the platform. Pearson and five of her hens - Shauna Metcalfe, Tia Metcalfe, Michelle Wingfield, Sophie Wingfield-Herron and Charley Wingfield-Herron - were then seen to either punch, grab hair or shove people during the violent fracas, which happened in front of children and families, Newcastle Magistrates' Court was told.
Rhodes and Moore and their group of friends also rained down punches or pushed and shoved during the incident, which was described by a judge as "unsavoury" and a "very, very unpleasant melee". The fight was eventually broken up by police officers. Pearson, 30, of Holby Garth, Browney, in County Durham, Shauna Metcalfe, 25, of Weatherhill Way, also in Browney, Tia Metcalfe, 22, of Willowtree Avenue, in Durham City, Michelle Wingfield, 43, of Central Avenue, in Meadowfield, County Durham, Sophie Wingfield-Herron, 22, of Beechfield, in Newton Aycliffe, and Charley Wingfield-Herron, 24, of Roehedge, Leam Lane Estate, Gateshead, all pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour to cause fear or provoke violence.
