Chelsea and Bournemouth meet at Stamford Bridge tonight fresh off their respective thumping FA Cup victories. Both cruised into the fourth round of the competition on Saturday – the Blues seeing off League Two's Morecambe 5-0 and the Cherries beating Championship side West Brom 5-1. Their attention now swiftly turns back to the Premier League as a midweek round of fixtures awaits.
Neither club would've expected to find themselves in the positions they do past the midway point of the season. Chelsea currently occupy the final guaranteed Champions League spot in fourth, while their visitors today (January 14) are just three points behind in seventh.
Enzo Maresca's side have faltered of late with no wins in their last four league outings, while Andoni Iraola hasn't tasted defeat since November. So it promises to be an entertaining spectacle which fans in the UK will be able to watch live. The action in west London is one of four top-flight games on Tuesday evening. Along with Brentford vs Manchester City and West Ham vs Fulham, it will get underway at 7:30pm.
The other fixture sees high-flying Nottingham Forest host league leaders Liverpool. That game follows shortly after the others with an 8pm kick-off at the City Ground. A win for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge won't see them move up a spot, however, given third-placed Forest are four points clear of the Blues.
