Summary at a Glance

I visited one of the world’s ‘best cities’ — it deserves all the praise it gets If there’s one hot destination for travel right now, it’s Cape Town.

If you fancy an insight into the city’s history, visit Bo-Kaap – one of the oldest residential areas in Cape Town, which was formerly racially segregated and was known as the Malay Quarter.

There’s no shortage of grapes either, as Cape Town and the Western Cape have a combined 2,693 wine group farmers and 45 producer cellars.

You can even go on a wine safari in the Durbanville Wine Valley, just 25 minutes outside of Cape Town, and enjoy a ‘sip and safari’ experience.

If you’re looking for more awe-inspiring landscapes, you can hike (or take the easier option as I did, a five-minute cable car) Table Mountain, one of the New 7 Natural Wonders of the World and the city’s most iconic landmark.
