DONALD Trump declared “I was saved by God to make America great again” — as he was sworn in as US President for a second time yesterday. And he laid out a barnstorming barrage of policies within minutes of taking office, in a show of power in sub-zero Washington DC.
Republican Trump survived an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, last July, in which a sniper’s bullet tore through his ear. And he said in his inaugural address yesterday: “I was saved by God for a reason — I was saved by God to make America great again.
“The golden age of America begins right now. From this day forward, our country will flourish and be respected. I will, very simply, put America first. “Our sovereignty will be reclaimed, our safety will be restored, the scales of justice will be rebalanced.”.
Ousted Democrat ex-President Joe Biden and former Vice-President Kamala Harris winced in the background as the new President pledged a return to “common sense” and an end to wokery and political correctness. Trump said: “Our top priority will be to create a nation that is proud, prosperous and free. America will soon be greater, stronger, and far more exceptional than ever before.
“Sunlight is pouring over the entire world and America has the chance to seize this opportunity like never before,. “From this moment on, America's decline is over.”. He thanked black and hispanic voters who helped return him to power. And he pledged to kick out criminal migrants he said were a blight on the nation.
