SAMSUNG has revealed a clever trick that could help everyone save money in their kitchens. The South Korean company has unveiled a bunch of snazzy new gadgets and concepts at CES, the world's biggest tech show held every year in Las Vegas. The Sun went along this year to see some of the weird and wonderful innovations on show.
Among them were flying cars, bizarre robots that cling onto your handbag and luxurious motorhomes that double in size. Samsung's other big innovation that could save money is a magic mirror, powered by AI, that can identify where you need to improve with your skincare routine - and even suggest products to help.
But one upgrade every household could benefit from is food waste. One-fifth of food made for humans to eat is lost or wasted globally, according to the UN. That's the equivalent to one billion meals a day. And with a cost of living crisis, it's a huge waste of money for everyone too.
One way to solve this problem has been developed by Samsung for future fridges. Samsung showed The Sun and other press how it works at CES. AI keeps tabs on the food in your fridge and will notify you if anything is going off. It all appears on the screen attached to the door of the fridge.
And you can ask Samsung's voice assistant, Bixby, at anytime. To prevent waste further, the feature will even suggest meals to use up those ingredients, so you don't need to struggle thinking of ideas. AI can also help save money in other ways too, determining exactly how much detergent is needed for a wash to be done with Samsung's newest washing machines.
