'I work with Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher – this is what they're really like off camera'

Not only are Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher the best football pundits going, they're also the most genuine. That's according to Rebecca Lowe, who presents the It's Called Soccer podcast on Neville's The Overlap US YouTube channel alongside the duo. The 44-year-old has been in the game for over two decades and has worked with some of the biggest TV personalities around - but none of them, apparently, hold a candle to Neville and Carragher.
"They are the standard-bearers," Lowe, who also fronts NBC Sport's coverage of the Premier League in the US, told Mirror Football. "They are the two best at what they do, there's no doubt in my mind.". Neville and Carragher have spearheaded Sky Sports' coverage of English football for over 10 years, setting a high benchmark for analysis and punditry. Their infamous love-hate dynamic - whether it be on-air tiffs, jokes at the other's expense, or passionate monologues - is equally entertaining, adding a layer of authenticity to their on-screen partnership.
Lowe believes that's is a big part of what makes them so exceptional. "They're exactly the same off air as they are on air," she said. "We'll come on and before we press record they'll have a little argument or a really interesting chat, and then as soon as we press record that same thing happens in the podcast. They really are [authentically themselves]. I like them both and respect them both so much.".
But popular though the pair may be, they aren't immune from criticism. In fact, they likely face more scrutiny than most of their peers, particularly on social media. London-born Lowe, who has lived and worked in the US since 2013, reckons this stems from their overall excellence, and the very British tendency to critique successful individuals.
