India star Virat Kohli loses temper with Australian media after ‘misunderstanding’ at airport

An irate Virat Kohli was involved in a heated confrontation with Australian media at Melbourne Airport ahead of India’s eagerly anticipated Boxing Day Test Down Under. India and Australia are tied at 1-1 in the sides’ intriguing five-match series after bad weather prevented a result at the Gabba previously.
The hosts suffered a 295-run defeat in the opening Test in Perth before fighting back with an emphatic ten-wicket win in second contest at the Adelaide Oval. Tensions have boiled over several times across the opening three matches, most notably in Adelaide where Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj were found guilty of breaching the ICC code of conduct during a verbal on-field spat.
Tempers flared once again today as Indian superstar Kohli – perhaps showing the strain of an intense tour – lost his cool with members of the waiting media upon his arrival in Melbourne for the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Rather than catching a flight with his team-mates, the veteran batter – India’s former captain – opted to travel with his family, who were accompanied by a handful of security personnel.
But the scene took a turn when Kohli spotted the cameras and thought his young children were being filmed, with the 36-year-old fuming: ‘With my kids I need some privacy, yeah?! You can’t film with asking me.’. According to 7NEWS Melbourne, Kohli was soon reassured that his children were not being filmed and the exchange was ‘largely a misunderstanding’.
