American Primeval is set to hit Netflix screens on January 9, delving into the tumultuous struggle for power over the American West, and the intense conflict between faith and culture. Taking the lead in this gritty series is the well-established Canadian actor and model Taylor Kitsch, age 43.

Not just any star, Kitsch is also celebrated for his portrayal of Tim Riggins in NBC's Friday Night Lights, where he shared the screen with Minka Kelly. The drama off-screen is just as palpable, with Kelly revealing in her tell-all book Tell Me Everything their connection was far from perfect.

She labelled their past relationship while she played cheerleader Lyla Garrity as "toxic". She spilled the beans writing: "All the effort I might have invested in connecting consistently with the girls on the show went to Taylor. So when my relationship with Taylor became toxic, I had no one to turn to.".

It was a classic tale of an on-off entanglement, with both stars struggling to manage the frosty atmosphere behind the cameras, reports the Mirror US. Digging deeper, she remarked: "We were young and had very few tools to handle our emotions and personal grievances.".

While the term "toxic" caught eyes in her memoir, Minka sought to elaborate during her chat on SiriusXM's Andy Cohen Live. "I don't know if I describe it as a toxic relationship," clarified Minka. "I say it became toxic as a result of.. being under the pressure cooker of a new show. You're 26 years old and in your twenties, I think there's a chance that might happen if you come from where I come from and you have the tools that I have or don't have, and what was important to me and what I really tried to do, especially in that chapter, was keep the focus on my s***.".
