Mr Trudeau marks the first time a child of a prime minister has taken office in the country.
With two brothers, he is the eldest son of the late Pierre Trudeau, who served as the country’s 15th prime minister, from 1968 to 1979 and 1980 to 1984.
Justin Trudeau was born on Christmas Day in Ottawa in 1971, and was raised speaking both French and English.
