Paradise is available to watch on Disney Plus and Hulu and it is set in a contained community inhabited by the most senior-ranking members of government. Sterling K. Brown plays Xavier Collins, the last man to see President Cal Bradford (played by James Marsden) alive before he was murdered.
Sterling K Brown is a 48-year-old American actor from Missouri, who was included in Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2018. He is best known for his roles in This Is Us and The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story.
The star, who has two sisters and two brothers, lost his dad, also called Sterling, when he was 10 years old. As a child, he used the name Kelby, but when it turned 16 he adopted the name Sterling. He told People: "I went by Kelby. My mom tells me this story — she was reiterating it the other day — in kindergarten I came home one day and said, 'Mom, Sterling is eight letters and Kelby is five. I'll just do Kelby and then when I turn 16, I will go by Sterling.'.
"And I don't remember that. The impetus for me is that he had been gone for some time, and I was like, 'Kelby was a little boy's name.' I felt like I was ready to become Sterling.". The star did not always have his sights set on acting, as he initially planned to study economics with a focus on business.
However, as a freshman, he fell in love with acting and did a post-graduate degree at New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Drama professor, Harry Elam Jr, was looking for black students to appear in a production of August Wilson’s Joe Turner’s Come and Gone.
