Leicester City host Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup third round on Saturday afternoon as the Foxes look to end a terrible run of results. Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team has lost five matches on the spin in the Premier League, scoring just two goals in that time.
It has been a tough run of fixtures, with defeats coming against Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester City and Aston Villa, although a 3-0 home loss to Wolves will have stung. Leicester will look to bounce back against Championship opposition, although QPR have been in better form of late.
Marti Cifuentes’ side are coming off back-to-back wins over Watford and Luton, seeing them climb to 13th in the Championship table after just one loss in their last 10 outings. The game is set to be played in testing weather conditions, with Leicester City warning supporters to be careful on their way to the game due to ice.
The club posted on social media: ‘Please take extra care when travelling to King Power Stadium today, as temperatures remain below freezing. ‘Watch out for any standing ice and allow extra time for your journey.’. Despite the unusual kick-off time of 2pm, the game is not being shown live on television.
Highlights will be shown on Match of the Day, which is on at 10.30pm on BBC One. Speaking ahead of the match, Van Nistelrooy said: ‘I love the competition. It’s the oldest cup tournament in the world and it’s a famous one as well. It’s also important to represent that and enjoy these games, so I’m looking forward to it.
