The weather may still be cold, dark and wet but it's not too early to start thinking about your spring wardrobe – and I think I've found this season's must-have jacket. If, like me, you missed out on last year's 'barn jacket' trend – a mid-weight, loose-fitting style usually in beige or khaki with a brown cord or leather collar – you'll be happy to hear that they're back for spring 2025, and this one from Marks and Spencer is already proving to be a hit.

As someone who most definitely dresses more casual than smart, I loved the look of these barn jackets when they first become popular last year, loving their easy-to-throw-on style, but never found one that really suited me, or was within my budget. So when I saw several influencers praising this one from M&S, I immediately bought it.
Made from canvas with a corduroy collar, it's lightweight yet thick enough to keep you warm during spring's unpredictable weather, and feels really good quality. It has a boxy, slightly oversized fit, meaning you can still wear jumpers underneath (although if you prefer a closer fit, I'd suggest buying one size smaller than your usual – something other shoppers have also suggested).
