FOLLOWING PlayStation’s latest change to how the PS Portal works, owners have more reason than ever to take their console out and about. Previously your Portal had to be able to connect to your PS5, which usually meant having someone at home to set things up.

This meant that it was a great console to use on the sofa while your favourite show was on the TV, but it wasn’t practical for trips away. However, you can now stream to your PS Portal via PlayStation Plus Premium, giving you more options to play on the go.

Despite the increased portability of the console’s functionality, it doesn’t help the Portal’s impractical shape and size. The PS Portal is much larger than the Switch or Steam Deck, and by virtue of being two halves of a PS5 controller stuck to the sides of a screen, it’s difficult to Tetris it into your bag.

If you ever plan to take your Portal on the go, you’ll need a way to protect it, and that’s no easy task. I bought my Portal close to launch, and at that time, there were limited products on the market. The first case I purchased had a semi-hard cover that got dirty quickly and allowed the console to move around a little inside.

Looking for a better case for my travels next year, I jumped at the chance to try out PowerA’s latest Portal case when I was offered one. I previously reviewed the PowerA Nintendo Switch case, which claimed to work with all Switch models, but I was bothered by how much my Switch Lite rattled around inside.
