Jeremy Clarkson has revealed he's suffered even more setbacks with his pub, following a string of 'total disasters'. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire host Jeremy, 64, first opened the doors to his watering hole, The Farmer's Dog in August 2024. It's understood he paid short of £1million to spruce up the property, which he opened off the back of the success of his Diddly Squat farm and shop, which was recently criticised for its £200 pie.
However, Jeremy has been on the path to discovering that being a pub landlord isn't all about pouring pints and late night lock-ins as he has suffered a series of setbacks with the establishment in recent months. Jeremy, who has been incredibly honest about the financial woes he faces with his public house, has detailed why he thinks it's "extremely difficult to make a pub profitable".
Writing in his column, he detailed how the "rot started" with the smoking ban which "forced the nation’s fun people into the wind and the rain until it dawned on them that staying at home for a smoke and a pint was easier", he penned. Jeremy added to The Sun that Brexit sparked staff shortages while the rise in energy costs and the National Insurance hike have caused financial difficulties. He added in his rant: "And now comes news they’re thinking of lowering the drink-drive limit to a point where a spoonful of sherry trifle will be enough to put you on the bus for 12 months.
