Fitness coach Joe Wicks has announced that he's ended up on crutches and with his foot in a medical boot after sustaining an injury whilst out on a run earlier this week. Joe, 39, has shared that he "rolled" his ankle on New Year's Eve morning, with him adding that he put "all" of his weight onto it. The content creator said that an x-ray following the outing found that he has sustained "ligament damage".
The news was shared with fans on Tuesday afternoon in a post on his Instagram page. The post featured a photo of him sporting crutches and the boot, as well as an x-ray image. Joe also revealed in the caption that he will not be able to attend a scheduled event at Virginia Water Lake in Surrey on New Year's Day after having injured his ankle.
The author wrote alongside the photos in the post: "Happy New Year. Had a shocker this morning. Thought I'd end the year with a run. Was feeling inspired and hit the road in the dark at 6am. As I ran around the corner I rolled my ankle on the grass and put all of my weight onto it. So painful.".
Joe - who is also known as the Body Coach - continued by telling his followers: "I had to hop back home on my other foot." He went on to describe the incident as a "setback" and discussed having gone to hospital over the injury. He shared: "Anyway bit of a setback. Went to the hospital for an X-ray because I thought it was fractured. Good news is that it's not broken, just ligament damage." Teasing over his recovery, Joe added: "Codeine and ice for me today.".
