A vet nurse has named which five dog breeds she loves but would never own herself. Jade, a registered veterinary nurse and mother to three dogs and three tortoises, has revealed that although she loves dalmatians, boxers, border collies, St. Bernard’s and huskies she would never take one of these dog breeds in. She shared this in a TikTok video which she titled “5 dog breeds I LOVE but would never own!”.
The reason for this is she thinks these dog breeds are either too energetic, too high maintenance or have too many health ailments. In the caption of her video she wrote: “I’m a vet nurse and these are 5 dog breeds that I LOVE, but would never own myself. (Note: This is my own opinion and not that of the entire veterinary profession.)”.
Her TikTok video has had 74,000 views, 2,920 likes and more than 200 comments, with people asking her why she wouldn’t own these breeds. One user asked: “Why wouldn’t you own them breeds?”. Jade replied: “Either too energetic, too high maintenance or have too many health ailments. But I love their personalities.”.
Someone else asked: “Why not boxers?” In response to this Jade said that boxer dogs are “just a bit too bouncy” for her and “often have health ailments.”. According to PDSA, the UK’s leading veterinary charity for pets in need, boxers are “entertaining and active dogs who thrive off company”. The charity claims: “Originally Boxers were bred to be working dogs, which is why they have such high exercise needs and energy to spare! Now they’re known for their kind and clownish natures which has made them popular family pets.”.
