Kai Havertz’s wife says vile trolls should be “ashamed” of themselves after death threats about her unborn child. The German forward missed the decisive penalty for Arsenal in their defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup. It came after he had also spurned a number of glorious opportunities during the game.
But his wife Sophia has revealed that she has received horrendous messages on Instagram, some even threatening the couple’s unborn child. Taking to her Instagram story, she shared one message reading: “I hope you have a miscarriage,” to which she replied: “For anyone to think it’s okay to write something like this is so shocking to me…I hope you are so ashamed of yourself.”.
A further message said: “I’m gonna come to your house and slaughter your baby I’m not joking just wait,” with Sophia writing in response: “I’m not sure what to even say but please guys be more respectful. We are better than this…”. THE FA CUP GIANT KILLERS: Get your special edition magazine celebrating some of the game's greatest-ever upsets.
Arsenal have already taken action in the face of the abuse. According to The Evening Standard, the club are now talking to a third-party investigator which specialises in online abuse. If those responsible are identified, Arsenal will seek the strongest punishment, while the accounts in question have also been reported to Instagram. Havertz and wife Sophia have been a couple since 2018 and were engaged in 2023.
