Kevin Owens was left a bloody state after his WWE championship match with Cody Rhodes at the Royal Rumble - to the worry of WWE fans everywhere. The Prizefighter was settling his feud with Rhodes after a friendship turned sour and both men let it all hang out in a violent affair. Blood has seldom been seen over the past 10-15 years in WWE, but Owens had plenty on his face when it was all said and done in Indianapolis.
The Canadian had nailed a spinning suplex through a ladder on Rhodes that left both men in a heap down the final stretch of the match. Sami Zayn rushed to ringside to try and aid his friend, but he refrained from getting involved in the match. Rhodes and Owens went into a higher gear once they got back to their feet and headed towards the announce tables. Owens forehead and nose were in pretty rough shape after the ladder spot with Rhodes.
The Prizefighter was left a bloody mess at the conclusion of the matchup. “Kevin Owens was seen talking to Mick Foley earlier in the day”Yep, checks out. pic.twitter.com/3xh7MCUCpl. Owens went for the package piledriver through the table, but Rhodes managed to counter into an Alabama Slam and planted Owens through a ladder. In fact, Owens ended up folded through one of the rungs in the ladder causing great concern for his neck.
Although he was seen conscious while Rhodes celebrated his victory, the wounds on Owens' face are not typically seen in WWE. The challenger had cut his face during the battle over the announce table originally, but the cuts on his face were exponentially worse when he emerged from the ladder. Owens took a lot of punishment during the match. Owens lost his WWE title match and Sami Zayn failed in his attempt to win the Royal Rumble later on in the night.
