Kyle Walker is targeting more Champions League glory with AC Milan after closing the book on his Manchester City career. It emerged earlier this month that the veteran right-back was eager to explore the possibility of moving abroad, and a deal taking him to Milan - initially on loan - was signed off late last week. The Italian giants have the option to sign Walker, 34, permanently at the end of the season for around £4.2million.
Walker enjoyed a glittering career with City, where he won numerous Premier League titles and the Champions League back in 2023. He's now set his sights on another European title - even though his old club are still in the competition. Reflecting on his move, Walker said on Monday: “Obviously I spoke with Zlatan (Ibrahimovic), he explained lots of different things to me, he told me about the great things we’re trying to achieve here.
“We talked about the Super Cup, which was a good start. It’s not perfect in terms of the league, but there’s still a chance in the Champions League. I hope to contribute with my experience and leadership and to help Milan return to where it wants to be.
“Winning the Champions League would be a dream come true: I have experienced it in a great final with City.”. Walker came close to leaving City back in 2023 when Bayern Munich came calling. And it was Pep Guardiola who revealed that his captain was, in fact, set to move on shortly before Milan approaching the Premier League champions about a deal. The 93-cap England star has now shed some light on their conversation, admitting it was a tough one to have.
