Lily Allen has resurfaced following reports she had checked into rehab while navigating her divorce from David Harbour. The Smile hitmaker, 39, wed Stranger Things star David, 49, in 2020, and they raised a blended family including Lily’s two daughters, Marnie and Ethel, from her first marriage to Sam Cooper, which ended in 2018. Sadly, their relationship wasn’t built to go the distance, as Lily and David are believed to have split in December. She was later spotted on the celebrity dating app Raya.
Last month, the pop star announced that she would be taking time off from the podcast she hosts with Miquita Oliver, admitting that she was ‘spiralling and spiralling’. While she previously denied entering ‘drug rehab’ amid divorce rumours, it was said she had turned to an £8,000-per-week inpatient treatment facility, having felt ‘extremely triggered’ upon returning to Brooklyn, where Lily shares a home with David.
‘Lily settled her kids back into the family home and took them to school for their new term, then flew herself straight to rehab,’ a source told MailOnline. In her first Instagram post since the speculation surrounding her well-being, Lily shared a bold four-word caption. ‘No context just vibes’, she wrote simply. The post included photos of the LDN singer in America, showcasing her quirky fashion sense in an abstract print jacket as she lunched with a friend.
Lily also picked up groceries from Erewhon and enjoyed listening to tunes while cruising the streets of Beverly Hills in her flash car. While she failed to mention the recent dramas in her personal life, fans were keen to flood the comments section with support after her weeks-long absence from the spotlight. ‘Our queen is baaackk🙌💜’, commented ketrin.polesak. ‘Hope you’re ok Lily!! ❤️ The podcast is not the same without you. You are sorely missed. Wishing you all the very best xx’, wrote janice_ann_b.
‘We love you. Take your time 💖’, added florianlbtr. When she signed off from her Miss Me? podcast for the final time before taking a three-week break, Lily expressed hope that she would return feeling more like herself. She said to long-time friend Miquita, 40, at the end of the episode: ‘I’ll see you on the other side. Hopefully, I’ll be in a better place.’. It was then reported that she’d be spending ‘several weeks at the residential retreat in the US’ where she was ‘expected to take part in intensive group counselling sessions and one-on-one therapy in which she will be urged to “unpack” her emotions.’.
Another insider said: ‘Everyone thinks David is the steady one and Lily is the crazy headcase. But the reality is that Lily was calmer and more grounded than she’s ever been—until she discovered that her marriage was unexpectedly over. ‘She is taking the responsible course of action with a trip to a retreat to get her head straight.’. They claimed she ‘wants to make sure she’s feeling physically well again so she can be there for her daughters as the best mother she can be.’.
Lily has remained tight-lipped publicly about her marriage breakdown but bravely confessed to podcast listeners that she was ‘not in a good place’. Explaining that she’d been having panic attacks, she said she was only able to concentrate on the ‘pain’ she felt. While assuring fans she had not ‘relapsed’ with drugs, Lily added: ‘I’m finding it hard to be interested in anything; I’m really not in a good place.
‘I know I’ve been talking about it for months, but I’ve been spiralling and spiralling. It’s got out of control; I’ve tried. ‘I came to the Miss Me? Christmas lunch and had a panic attack and had to go home, and then I went to see something at the theatre the other night with my friends, and I had to leave at halftime. ‘I can’t concentrate on anything except the pain I’m going through. It’s really hard.’.
As for David, the actor appeared in high spirits as he attended a basketball game in New York recently. He has not spoken publicly about his marriage ending. Got a story?.
