Lisandro Martinez clashed with Adama Traore once again as Manchester United beat Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage. Martinez and Traore previously locked horns earlier this season, with the United defender joking after the game: "I sent him to the gym!" Speaking to Sky Sports, Martinez added: "He is difficult to play against and I learned from the first situation. In the first situation he killed me but then I killed him back.".
Traore then responded to Martinez on social media as he shared a photograph from training with the caption: "Don't worry. We will meet again". And the pair clashed when Traore came off the bench on Sunday, with Martinez jumping into a challenge on the winger.
Martinez did come off second best, with the defender left in a heap on the ground while Traore stood over him. "What is Lisandro Martinez doing? He has got himself injured, as well. He has got to be so careful as a defender," Lucy Ward said on commentary for TNT Sports.
However, Martinez ultimately had the last laugh as he went on to score the winning goal for the Red Devils with his long-range effort taking a big deflection off Sasa Lukic and looping over Bernd Leno. "I think I was lucky, but an important win," Martinez told TNT Sports after the game. "I am happy with the way we won the game. It doesn't matter who scores - the most important is the three points.
