Londoners could see ten days of sunshine as one of the gloomiest winters in years comes to a close.
At one stage earlier this month there was no sunshine for over a week in parts of the capital for the first time in nearly 50 years.
Heavy rain on Wednesday will make way for a settled dry period, with sunny spells by day and overnight frost and fog likely, according to the forecaster.
The capital is set for lengthy bright spells with plenty of wintry sunshine following a bleak start to the year, BBC Weather has said.
Southern England experienced just over 1.5 hours of sunshine each day on average in 72 days of winter, the Standard previously reported.
